At WADU we are committed to ending Sexual Gender-Based Violence in all its forms. We recognize that GBV is a serious human rights violation that disproportionately affects girls, young women, and other vulnerable groups in our communities. Our work focuses on both prevention and response, ensuring that survivors receive the support they need while tackling the root causes of violence through education and advocacy.
WADU does Prevention through Education and Awareness, and to achieve this, we engage adolescents, young people, parents, community leaders, and schools in open conversations and training on GBV, gender equality, and healthy relationships. Through community forums, school outreach, and youth clubs, we challenge harmful gender norms and empower individuals to become champions of non-violence.
Further, we provide Survivor Support Services that ensure confidential, survivor-centered support, including: Psychosocial counseling, Legal aid referrals, Access to medical care and post-rape services, and Safe shelter in partnership with local service providers. We also do capacity Building and Community Mobilization, and we do this through the training of peer educators, community health volunteers, teachers, and caregivers to recognize and respond to GBV. By building local capacity, we ensure that every case of violence is met with timely and compassionate support.
